Writing and editing

Kya is a writer and presenter. As a freelancer, she has worked for titles including Metro, Stylist, gal-dem, Soho House, Time Out, Cosmopolitan and more.

Previously, Kya was the Editor-in-Chief and founder of Aurelia Magazine, working with Nike, ASOS, FACT, Festival of Debate, etc; she has also held positions at LADbible, guest edited the popular series 'The Passage That Changed Me' for gal-dem, and worked as a freelance editor for Metro UK.

Kya is now the founder and co-host of The Read Room, a literature meets late nights initiative, who have been lauded by Hypebae, the Guardian, BBC and more.


Presenting

Kya has worked as a presenter for several years, hosting for the likes of Dazed, Mubi, Nike, Beats by Dre, We Invented the Weekend, Madre, I Like Networking, Factory International, Black British Book Festival and more.

She ran a series of popular, sold-out virtual events surrounding the art of personal writing, storytelling and getting to the heart of who we are and what we feel, which took place digitally and in-person.

She co-hosted Close-Up, a deep-diving, funny and often existential podcast alongside her best friend and collaborator Amelia, and guests included Annie Lord, Sareeta Domingo, and Cherry Valentine.

She has also appeared as a guest in a number of episodes of LADbible’s The Ranker series.
