Kya is a journalist and editor. As a freelancer, she has worked for titles including Metro, Stylist, gal-dem, Soho House, Time Out and more, and recently wrote a speech for Aitch during his appearance at the AO Arena.

She works as a journalist for Tyla and has spearheaded a series of originals on a plethora of topics including free bleeding, Black women’s hair in sport, and destigmatising genital hygiene for Sexual Health Awareness Week.

Kya guest edited the popular series 'The Passage That Changed Me' for gal-dem, and worked as a freelance editor for Metro UK.

During her time as Editor-in-Chief and founder of Aurelia Magazine, Kya worked with Nike, ASOS, Everpress, TOMS, Converse, FACT Liverpool, Royal Exchange Theatre, Festival of Debate and more.



Hosting and presenting

Kya is extremely comfortable on camera and is a natural when it comes to connecting with an audience. She has worked as a presenter for many years, hosting for the likes of Dazed, Mubi, Nike, Beats by Dre, We Invented the Weekend, Madre, I Like Networking, and Factory International.

She ran a series of popular events surrounding the art of personal writing, storytelling and getting to the heart of who we are and what we feel, which took place digitally and in-person.

She co-hosted Close-Up, a deep-diving, funny and often existential podcast alongside her best friend and collaborator Amelia, and our guests included Annie Lord, Sareeta Domingo, and the late Cherry Valentine.

She has also appeared as a guest in a number of episodes of LADbible’s The Ranker series.
